You thought Apple was done surprising you? Think again.
Just when you were saving up for the next-gen watch or laptop, Apple has graced us with its most… unexpected accessory in years.
It’s called the “iPhone Pocket.”
And yes, it’s pretty much exactly what you called it: a “sock, purse, looking thing.” But make it fashion.
In a “special-edition” collaboration with high-fashion brand ISSEY MIYAKE, Apple has just launched a “singular 3D-knitted” pouch.
Let’s be clear: this isn’t the $20 silicone case you grab at the checkout. This is a designer “piece of cloth,” inspired by iconic pleats, that expands to hold your iPhone and… well, “all pocketable items.” (Your one credit card and a stick of gum, probably).
You can wear it handheld. You can tie it to your bag. You can even, the press release boasts, wear it “directly on the body.”
And now, the part you’ve been waiting for. The price.
This high-fashion phone holder, this knitted “extra pocket,” will set you back:
- $149.95 for the short strap version.
- $229.95 for the long strap version.
Yes, you read that right. Up to $230 for an accessory that does a job your actual pocket has been doing for free since… forever.
Is this a brilliant piece of high-fashion design that merges tech and textiles? Or has Apple finally found a way to sell us a $150 sock with a straight face?
We’re genuinely not sure.
What do you think? Is the iPhone Pocket a stroke of genius or the most ridiculous Apple accessory ever?
